The Role

You will be tasked with the day-to-day management and development of the IT function and its personnel. Your primary goal is to ensure that the services provided by the onsite team align with contractual commitments and industry best practices. Additionally, you will serve as a business partner to the legal teams, fostering a collaborative environment to leverage our technology offerings in support of the organization’s strategic objectives. Collaborating closely with the firm’s Managed Service Provider (MSP), you will oversee the functionality of the firm’s IT systems to ensure they meet operational requirements.

 

Key Competencies

  • Managing stakeholder relationships, attending departmental meetings, having full accountability for feeding back accordingly.
  • Collaborative working with a strong focus on business partnering.
  • Identifying opportunities and implementing technology improvements that meet the diverse needs of the stakeholders.
  • To attend Legal Team meetings feeding back key messages/concerns to the Head of IT and supporting timely resolution of follow up actions.
  • To perform regular reviews with the business to ensure that IT is aligned with the requirements of the core business.
  • To contribute to the vision of the IT development.
  • To deputise for the Head of IT when required and representing the function at key business meetings.

 

People Management

  • Managing the IT function to ensure that the service delivered to the customer is in line with contractual commitments and best practice.
  • Manage the on-site IT support team through regular 1:1’s, support, and coaching to ensure all aspects of the team’s delivery are meeting business requirements, including project delivery, application and training support and on-site technical services.

 

Specialist Technical Support

  • To work with the firms MSP to ensure management of the network infrastructure, servers, workstations, and software.
  • To conduct regular reviews with the MSP and the business to ensure high levels of service to the end users.
  • Maintain business software applications in conjunction with the MSP and associated 3rd parties.
  • Hands on support on 365 tenancy and associated infrastructure.
  • To work with the MSP to ensure deployment of patches, fixes, and IT Best Practice adopted.
  • Ensure all security aspects of the business are covered with MSP and Local IT Team.
  • Manage the residual on-site infrastructure – internet connectivity, access control system, phones, printers, wireless access, switches, backups/disaster recovery tests.
  • To work with all relevant parties to ensure Cyber Essentials / Cyber Essentials Plus standards are met and maintained.
  • Identify, plan and cost future development and upgrades to the ICT infrastructure by working with the MSP.
  • Responsibility for back-up systems.

 

Requirements and experience

  • Experience of managing an Inhouse IT Team with provision in an MSP.
  • Proven track record of building relationships between IT and the Business.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven track record of stakeholder management.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience of IT in a legal environment.
  • An understating of Network Topologies, Protocols, and Infrastructure/Mimecast
  • An understanding of IT Security.
  • Experience of Microsoft Azure/365 with a hands-on approach working alongside the MSP.
  • Able to manage and prioritise tasks and time efficiently, and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and successfully manage multiple deadlines.
  •  A working knowledge of ITIL and ISO practices.
