This week the Home Office confirmed when it plans to implement the changes to sponsored worker and family visa routes.
11 March 2024 – from this date:
- care workers will no longer be able to bring dependants with them to the UK and
- care providers who sponsor migrants will have to register with the Care Quality Commission.
4 April 2024 – this is the date:
- minimum salary levels for skilled workers will increase to £38,700 (except for roles under the Health and Care worker route).
- the Shortage Occupation List will be removed (and replaced with the Immigration Salary List.
- employers will no longer be able to apply the 20% discount to the minimum salary requirement for roles on the Shortage Occupation List.
11 April 2024 – from this date, the increased salary levels for family visas will start to apply. The changes are being implemented, and fast. Sponsors will need to start taking steps to ensure they are familiar with these changes and what they mean for their sponsor licence in the longer term.
